The #AdaptMTB give-it-a-go day that took place on March 18, 2023 was such a fantastic day full of energy and excitement, all thanks to the incredible participants who came out to experience the joy of adaptive mountain biking. People of all ages and abilities gathered together under the beautiful Redwood forest in Rotorua, and their enthusiasm, grit, and determination added to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
We received a lot of feedback and one thing that kept coming up was the inclusivity and sense of community that permeated the event. “Regardless of whether you were an experienced rider or a complete beginner, you were welcomed with open arms and encouraged to give adaptive mountain biking a try. This created a safe and supportive environment that made everyone feel included and supported, which was truly inspiring to witness.”
We want to give a huge shoutout to all the volunteers who gave their time and expertise to make the event a success. Without them, this day wouldn't have been possible, and their hard work and dedication helped create this sense of community. We also want to thank the equipment providers who supplied specialised gear that enabled participants with disabilities to experience adaptive mountain biking. Your generosity and support made a significant impact on the success of the event, and we are grateful for your contribution. And not to forget the team from Cambridge Rapid Relief who provided BBQ burgers throughout the day to fuel participants, their friends, family and our volunteers.
Overall, the #AdaptMTB give-it-a-go day showcased the power of sport to bring people together and build communities. It was a fun-filled day that left everyone feeling energised and uplifted, and we, the crew from #AdaptMTB, feel lucky to have been a part of it. We're already looking forward to planning more events like this in the future, and we hope to see even more people come out and experience the joy of adaptive mountain biking.
